The +swappow PLUS Foundation was established in 2015 to help foster kids thrive through a combination of skateboarding and life-skills programming. Our mission is to encourage and empower their pursuit of active and healthy lifestyles and prepare them for life during and after foster care. We do so through live skateboarding workshops, free skateboarding equipment and a proprietary 12-week virtual skateboarding + life program. The impact of our program can be seen in improvements in the daily habits of our foster kids, improved self-perception, better school attendance and the reduction of substance use and addiction.

To date, we have served over 1000 Arizona Foster Children and distributed over 1500 skateboards to the foster community. In the process, we have solicited and resold or repurposed over 8,300 pieces (35,300 LBS) of overstock action sports related products. By doing so, we have helped to support the foster community and fund our modest operations while diverting these goods from landfill.

“After six years of struggling with an addiction, my foster son discovered that skateboarding could be his new drug of choice. He has now been clean for four months which is a huge accomplishment for him. His new passion is skating and he spends every free minute learning new tricks… I can’t thank this organization enough for their time and support. They have gone above and beyond to help my kiddo during his recovery.”
